Our history

Prism Care Corporation, a Canadian, family owned company, was founded in April 1999 with the goal of benefiting people and the environment. Our mission is simple, but its impact over the years has been profound.

In 1999, under our PrismEnvironmental^® brand, we were one of only a handful of Canadian companies offering EcoLogo^TM certified cleaning products. But we knew that we could do more. We set out to replace hazardous, toxic cleaning products in commercial and institutional facilities one building at a time.

Over the next several years, we worked tirelessly — researching and using the best natural, plant-based and sustainable raw materials in countless formulations to test their effectiveness. We listened intently to suggestions from all corners of our industry, particularly the cleaning staff of both large and small cleaning companies. It was important for us to work with and learn from these hard-working people, many of whom were exposed to toxic chemicals every day. We learned a lot and set out on a mission to develop the highest performing, natural, non-toxic products on the market. This is how Eco-Max was born.

After receiving a tremendous response from across Canada, we knew we were on the right track. This widespread interest, coupled with growing national and international environmental awareness, led to the release of Eco-Max consumer products for household use in 2007.

Since then, we have maintained our commitment to the environment while operating as transparently as possible. We publish all our test results for public viewing and are not afraid to list our ingredients — we’ve got nothing to hide.

Our green initiatives

At Prism Care Corporation, we practice a continued commitment to the environment — it’s something you’ll hear us say again and again. We do our best to act in an environmentally responsible manner in all aspects of our operational processes so as to minimize or eliminate waste. We recycle all recyclable materials including paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, metal and shrink wrap used in our office and manufacturing operations. From recycling materials in our own facility, to developing leading edge Green cleaners, we have found ourselves supporting several Green initiatives, some of which we’ve listed below.

In our ongoing journey to reduce our carbon footprint, we partnered with Bullfrog Power, a leader in providing clean electricity to homes and businesses throughout Canada.

As of January 2010, our office and manufacturing facility are powered by 100% renewable electricity originating from wind farms and hydroelectric plants that have been certified by the ECOLOGO program. By supporting an organization like BullFrog Power, we are taking an active role in reducing the pollution caused by traditional oil, coal, natural gas and nuclear energy sources while helping to maintain clean air for future generations.

We believe in creating truly sustainable products. Using animal ingredients and conducting animal testing are not sustainable practices. We feel strongly that products should be made with respect for animals. For this reason, Eco-Max products are registered with the Vegan Society. You can rest assured our products are not tested on animals and do not contain animal ingredients.

In 1944, The Vegan Society created the word ‘vegan’. Their Trademark is the authentic international vegan standard. To use this mark, products must pass a thorough product review by a dedicated and experienced team to ensure ingredients used do not come from animal sources.
